Yesterday we watched the final installment of the Harry Potter movie series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.  It was a completely epic movie and because of that, I got inspired to write a short Biografie about the author of the seven books, Frau J.K. Rowling . Joanne Kathleen Rowling (geb. July 31, 1965) - seinen Freunde sagen Jo - kommt aus Yate, aus Gloucestershire in England. Sie ist 45 Jahre alt. J.K. Rowling ist berühmt britisch Autorin. Sie hat geschrieben das Harry Potter Phantasie Reihe. J.K. ist auch berühmt wegen ihr "rags to riches" Story. Sie wurde Milliardär in fünf Jahren. J.K. Rowling ist verheiratet mit Neil Murray. Sie hat zwei Kinder -- eine Tochter, Jessica und ein Sohn, David.  Die Familie wohnt in Edinburgh in UK. Sie hat in BA French and Classics bei die University of Exeter .

Guten Morgen! I haven't updated in a while, I'm sorry. A few days ago, we were given a homework (Hausaufgabe) which required us to make a mini-biography (Biografie) about a person. It consists of of an oblong strudel pastry jacket with an apple filling inside. The filling is of from grated apples, sugar, cinnamon, raisins, and bread crumbs. Guten Tag! I really wanted to post new updates about the Food Vocabulary that I found last week. The lesson about the Cafe last week really inspired me to research about Deutsch cuisine and such. Abendbrot [ x ] According to this article I read from  DAAD , typically Germans do not eat heavy meals in the evening. Most of them prefer to have a slice of bread with butter with one or two cold cuts or cheese. This is what you call an  Abendrot. Last week's Deutschkurs was all about the Cafe: how to order, how to pay, what to order, etc. That's why I've been inspired to search for a list of Deutsch terms for their food along with it's Englisch definition. My research yielded a lot of results and I'll be posting updates regarding these terms every now and then. Guten Morgen! Because of Frau Arroyo's comment on my post regarding the German National Anthem, I made a little research about it and discovered a few very interesting things: Only the third verse * is currently the Federal Republic of Germany's national anthem. During the Nazi era, only the first stanza was used, followed by the SA song "Horst-Wessel-Lied" ** . In 1945, after the end of World War II, singing  Das Lied der Deutschen  and other symbols used by Nazi Germany were banned for some time by the Allies. Chancellor Konrad Adenauer*** asked President Theodor Heuss**** in a letter to accept  Das Lied der Deutschen  as the national anthem, with only the third stanza sung on official occasions. President Heuss agreed to this on 2 May 1952.  On official occasions, Haydn's music is used, and only the third stanza is supposed to be sung. For other uses, all stanzas may be performed.
